Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy
I don’t have words.
This book is beautiful and haunting, every page makes me feel so many different things.
A slow tale around a family, their island of Shearwater and a world falling apart.
I knew within 20 pages this would be a 5 star read. I know it will likely be a favorite of the year, maybe a forever favorite.
One of the most profound books and I’m already excited to read again at some point. It’s only 300 pages and yet so visceral and more layered than some 600+ page books. Everything is connected and I think this book is a masterpiece of writing. Simple, haunting, and yet hopeful somehow.
I loved all the characters, they were all flawed in such distinct ways and I can’t ever really express how much I connected and felt while reading this, as though it was imprinted on my soul.
5/5 somehow doesn’t feel adequate
