Book review: Sunrise on the Reaping

Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins

This was such a a well constructed book, a complete opposite to Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. I do think it’s necessary to read both, unfortunately, which is real kicker as I found BOSAS to be an absolute bore. I still kind of struggled with how that one ended between them and hated the slowness of everything.

Versus this book was fast paced and yet also had a lot of memorable characters and moments. The ending, while not surprising, was very well done. This really showed how different the two characters were.

I had minor annoyances, but nothing that ruined or stopped my enjoyment. I didn’t get very emotional, mostly because the book was more plot driven and it just didn’t hit emotionally for me, but I still had such a good time.

I loved this book. I just wish I had more from other districts, hopefully more to come.

4/5
