Book review: If an Egyptian cannot speak English

If an Egyptian cannot speak English by Noor Naga
This book fascinated me. At first it’s the story of two totally separate people and their lives, one woman who is of Egyptian descent. Another is a boy from Egypt, a poor and drug addicted. They meet and at first it’s lovely, then it becomes less than that. It turns and morphs into both of them angry at the other, for them not understanding their own lives and how they got here.

Him constantly reaching to try and measure up, her constantly hunching to lower herself to not make him feel bad.

It’s an experimental book, in the way the story is told and it may take a moment or two to fully get invested, but these characters are worth it.

I wish I could forget this book just to relive it. Literally so incredible. Please give it a chance, the audiobook is amazing.
